Letter from Les - July 2019
Hello CMMA members and friends,
I hope this message finds you enjoying your favorite Minnesota summer activities.
First off, we’re happy to report that our group continues to provide meaningful resources for the growth and development of manufacturing in central Minnesota. Our gatherings are well attended and our presenters and tour hosts consistently deliver valuable knowledge and insight as reported in our member surveys. Each tour is an honor and unique learning opportunity as our group is welcomed into world class manufacturing firms that are proud of their work and eager to share all they can. Along the way, we’ve celebrated longevity and continuity with many 5-year membership awards. CMMA sincerely appreciates our member investors as our association’s important activities and significant outcomes would not happen if not for your support and active participation.
Our recent annual fund-raising golf tournament was yet another resounding success. We gathered to play for a purpose, the weather was right, and the company couldn’t have been better! We saw familiar and new faces as we ate, drank and laughed together. Most importantly, we raised nearly $11,000 to continue our investment in and support of academic scholarships for college students training for manufacturing careers and area K-12 robotic programs. Both are vibrant precursor components in our workforce development strategies and we’re making measurable impact. Huge thanks to our golf committee for their outstanding service in leading and delivering a meaningful event to provide mission critical resources.
CMMA’s Summer Social is just around the corner, August 6 at 4:30 at Beaver Island Brewing Company in St. Cloud. Plan now to come join the fun and fellowship! CMMA is also hosting a Solar Energy Workshop on September 13 at Louis Industries in Paynesville. Come and learn from the UMN Extension Clean Energy Resource Team as they detail preferred practices for rooftop or ground-mounted solar and how solar energy can serve your business.
Remember to post your jobs on the CMMA website, another tool in your recruitment toolbox. We’re in the process of improving our website to include more presenter information, a K-12 connection and an easy-to-use youth apprenticeship toolkit.
Thanks for completing our meeting surveys, our volunteer leadership board values your input as topics and tours are targeted, developed and scheduled.
CMMA, we’re in it together, we’re working hard to make you proud to be a part of a visionary and productive trade association that exceeds expectations.
Wishing you a safe and productive summer.
